A lesson learned

WELL ANOTHER WEEK DOWN......
Well i think this was one of the slowest weeks of my mission up to this point, let me inform you why.. Well i want to start off saying i love my companion..... when he isnt mad for no reason. but this week he was mad almost the whole week and i really just dont know why, and he didnt want to talk to me much at all. i have learned that when there is nobody to talk to things are really slow down. But on the bright note this week was really cool, in many other ways. To start off we had youth that wanted to come with us each day so that helped with my companion and i because together we just werent working well together. So the youth in this ward are super cool they remind me of our ward back at home with all of us super awesome people. This week was even cooler because we had the chance to hear from one of the new seventy for our area.. elder weddel. his whole message to us is there is always one more person that we need to go out and find. if we find that one then there is another one. So I really learned a lot about patience and diligence this week. i would recommend first reading Alma 32..28-45 because those verses really got me thinking about how when we are starting to practice something new, it is just having the faith to put the seed in the ground. what we need to do is make the seed grow and that includes the difficult times. so ya this week was tough but we had a lot more lessons and i learned lessons myself that i know will have a major affect in my life. I am so grateful for this time i have to grow and make myself stronger as a person. I love hearing all of the testimonies and prayers of our investigators because i can feel them growning ( I think he meant growing) with every visit. we are still working on putting more people with baptismal dates. but i love this area and my companion. we are doing better now which i am sure you will be happy to hear. i know i am because i know we are so much more effective when we really put our heart in the work.. like it says in D and C 64 the lord requires our heart. and that means all of our time needs to be dedicated to him, helping find his children, and teach the gospel that we have in our lives.. i love it...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KOREY!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was going to wish you Happy Birthday last week but it just seemed like a really long wait for your birthday which was yesterday!! So from what i hear it was pretty sweet, you got to eat some pretty awesome food.
But from there i too got a pretty cool present for your birthday. it turns out that peru had a peru conference, they tried to say it was stake conference, but it was really just general conference short version for Peru.. you know why because it was a member of the 70, it was julie b beck, it was d todd cristofferson, and lastly it was you guessed it President Thomas S. Monson.. It was awesome all of Peru had the same conferance where the prophet and apostle and others were basically telling peruvians to work harder in missionary work, and then telling them that coming to the church one time a month is not being a member... haha it was awesome because it was so direct for all of them to start trying in missionary work to bring the less actives back to the church.. it was legit, not gonna lie. i took 2 pages of notes at a stake conference and i can honestly say that was a first in my life. So after this conference we had 3 youth want to come with us. so my companion and I split up and had a few more lessons than we were going to have. It really was a cool session and great prep for general conference that is coming yet again so we can learn even more!! I am so pumped to get to listen to the prophets again in two weeks, gosh i love my mission and my new country... haha
Next on the week we had the chance to find 4 new investigators. we have the hermana isabel who is 100 percent ready for her baptism, which means i am pumped because we haven't had a baptism here in this area yet. after her we have the other girl yasmin but she is never home when we go to pick her up to come to church, but this week we had a really good lesson with her to resolve her doubts and so we feel really good about her. at the same time we aren't sure if she wants to come to church so that is kinda sad. this week i was studying in the new testament and for the first time in my life i have made it to matthew 10, now i just want to say that is sad on my part, but it is really awesome because i have used those chapters in my lessons tons this week i would now recommend studying the new testament because that is what Elder Neil A Anderson told us that we should do. i can now testify that it is true because it really helps build your testimony of our savior, Jesus Christ. I feel so good just going out this week and i actually contacted them with, hi I am elder farr and i am from the one true church in the world and i am here to share the truth with you.. it was awesome and yes we actually got into two houses with that. Me and my companion are doing well and i love this gospel and i am learning so much reading new things, that i never would have thought of reading before this week. I hope that you can all help in the missionary work whether it be bring someone back to church who is a little less active, or heck talk to some random person and tell them a little about the gospel and they could easily accept cause it is true.. I love all you so much and hope you have an awesome week. your favorite elder

Transfer and New comp. 9-12-2011

WELL FARR FAMILY & others....
Hahaha i love writing different things to start my letters. Well this week passed by really fast. Elder Zuñiga and I had some super awesome lessons and we found a new girl.. her name is jasmin and she is 17. we weren't sure if she would be a real investigator or just another little girl that wanted to talk to us.. we went and talked to her and gave her the pamphlet on the gospel of Jesus Christ and said if you want to learn more read this and we will come back to explain what you don't understand.. we told her the back has questions she could answer if she wanted to answer those. we went and visited her the next day.. let me explain that when we give people these pamphlets it's a miracle if they open to the first page, so we got to her house and she was like ya i read the book you left and i answered the questions the best i could but if you could explain some i would really appreciate it.. well my jaw dropped and i really just couldn't believe it.. so that was awesome. Also we had a reference named isabel and she also is golden. they both are set for baptism in october, so we are really excited.. Well i should also say that when i say we.. i now mean me and my new companion, Elder Llontop. he is from the same area as my old companion, elder serrano, but they did not know each other. well I was really happy this week with our work this week for me and elder Zuñiga.. i really learned a ton from him and i now study better then i have ever studied, and i understand so much more. i don't know if it was him that taught me or that all of a sudden i was doing it. but i think he taught me a bunch, it was awesome to be his companion..
Lastly, well i guess i will write that i too had the opportunity to give a talk this week just like Kelli and Alex.. It was kinda a surprise but i was really happy with how it ended up. I got to bear my testimony on fasting because the lady that spoke before me was talking on that. so i got to bear my testimony and i felt really really strongly to say that we fasted for years to help Corey and I really felt like that helped us, so i just love it.. the people afterward said that i did a good job so i was very happy about that. i felt like i had no problem speaking. i didnt take time to think of words, they just came to me.. i know i haven't written about the language for a while but i am feeling so much better with the spanish, and i know that i have had some heavenly help with that. i love this gospel and i know that it is true. I am so happy to have the opportunity so serve in these days and want to encourage all the young men in the ward that you really just need to listen, learn, read, and build your testimony before you go on your missions. that is the main message the apostle Neil A. Anderson gave us and president manning.. it is more important for us to have testimonies than anything else, with a testimony, we can really teach. I love you all and this gospel so much.. alrighty then family!!!
Well this week family was pretty solid.. I finally got to leave the house on Wednesday and i feel much better about being out and about rather than sitting in the apartment because that is just horrible. Also this week i had an interchange with elder mckinnley, so that was fun.. we were contacting people and enjoying the interchange. it was the first interchange with someone from my group so it was pretty fun. we talked about sports but at the same time found four new investigators that were just playing cards and then they wanted to listen to us talk in spanish. they just saw two gringos walking around in the streets so that was really cool..Also we were really down because all of our investigators are eternal investigators, so we are trying really hard to find new people. then we got a reference and her name is Isabel Mendoza.. she is 60 and she has a ton of family in the church but her husband wanted nothing to do with the church. He said look if you listen or join the church i am gone.. so this week she told him i am going to listen to the missionaries and you can leave... then he said ok you can listen and i think i will too.. haha it is pretty funny.. we still havent taught him but she is really cool and she is set for baptism here in october!! i am not gonna lie we needed someone ready and super awesome like her to give me a little bit more energy and hope for the area.. So yes i am happily healthy and sorry this letter isnt very long but this week was sweet and now we are going to some area that has old things.. so i gots to run but i love you all. i love waking up in the mornings and studying the book of mormon the book of ether is incredible.. i love how it explains faith and how we need to get our faith stronger.. and also i just want to say Happy Birthday to Kelliann this week on the Ninth.. Another Trip to IN N OUT if you ask me.. and i hope you enjoy Magic Mountain sister!!!!!! much love. Love you tons and hope you have a great week.. Love elder farr!!!

Chicken Pox Week 8/29/2011

ALRIGHTY THEN FAMILY..
WELL THIS WEEK WAS THE WEEK OF CHICKEN POX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ya you were all out on the lake enjoying your time, living it up, and having fun and i was quite literally stuck in bed and could not do anything.. so i will give you the nice quick update of what i could do this week before i was forced into the room for the week.. So to start last week we went to pisco for p day where elder carter was.. but to my dismay he had an emergency change to lima two weeks ago so I didnt get to see him in that moment. we played soccer with them and i thought it went pretty well. all of the other missionaries were saying i needed to call hna manning and so i did later that day, and i dont think she was happy i waited so long but i dont like to call people when i am sick. i just take the pills i want too.. ibuprofen.. and they work like a charm. anyways all went well and then on wednesday we had a reunion in lima.. now this reunion was a little bit special because Elder Neil L. Anderson came to visit all the missionaries in lima south central and west.. so we got to go and listen to him tell us that what they want for us is to first gain a testimony of Jesus Christ' meaning all that we ask the people to do for the book of mormon.. read about him. he told us to read all the new testament. then ponder about what we read, and lastly pray and ask if its true. it was really cool because it was less on missionary work directly. it was all about gaining stronger testimonies on the things that we teach. for a couple of reasons. to make sure when we finish we will always remember. and second. if we have stronger testimonies on the topic we will only be able to teach and testify of these things so much stronger and with a much more assurity??.. i think that is the word.. But i loved that talk that he left with us and then we got to talk to all the people we could find and guess what there was the whole group, all of us together.. church carter stanfield mckinnley merrit and i... it was awesome. they are all doing really well and elder merritt is like a stick... he got sick in nazca and thinned up good.. haha anyway hopefully things get better this week...in the health, but i love it out here and i love my companion and how he helps me.. Love you all so much and take care...

8/22/2011 Lake Powell week for family

WELL FAMILY THERE GOES ANOTHER WEEK!!!
Alright so this week was pretty solid we didnt have very many lessons but the lessons we did have i feel really good about.. so this week i thought would be a longer letter seeing how all y`all are rocking down there at the lake but really there isnt a ton to write about.. haha we found two new families that we can teach and i feel really good about both of them.. for everyone else in our area.. well me and my companion kinda decided that we were going to basically start from scratch because the sisters that were here had investigators that well they are all eternal investigators and they do not want to progress. they dont have any desire to learn or come to church so that is kinda lame.. but me and my companion work really well together and i am super happy with this companionship.. and well i have finally put my finger on who i think of when i look at him.. he reminds me of sloth from goonies.. hahahah it is hilarious and he talks like the old man from the never ending story.. it is incredible.. he is 26 years old and we just roll along finding more people to teach and working and studying really hard.. i love my area and i love meeting the new people and talking to them in the streets. i have gotten a lot better at that so it is pretty legit.. and we have an hermana we are teaching she has to say every lesson that i speak super clear in spanish and i just laugh say thank you and tell her i am practicing and still need to improve a ton. but i am loving it for real..I know this church is true and i am super happy to be here right now.. i thought i would be a little bit trunky with the family at lake powell but i am not.. i am really happy this week and i love it here.. i love my area and all of the members and investigators in this area..

Papa Smurf's Birthday Week

Alright Family well it is the week before the big trip...
Holy cow i cant believe it is already time for all the family to roll into lake powell.. well this week was really just awesome. me and my companion are getting to know our area and all the members and investigators that we get to teach and all that good stuff.. the area we now know pretty well and this week we had 21 lessons in total.. so that was cool.. we kept ourselves working hard searching for some more people to teach because the people we have right now all have just crazy problems and doubts that are more difficult than the normal.. things that they just cant accept happened or recognize that with a prayer, we can receive an answer.. it was just really annoying when we went and visited three different people and they all just said well i dont know if that actually happened, and i dont believe in prayer so you need to convince me it happened with more than you will feel good about something.. so we pulled out all the scriptures we could and i realized that this person really had no interest in the gospel.. she just wanted to listen to the scriptures and I really i dont know why.. she was just getting in my head i think or that is how i felt.. Well after that we had some awesome study sessions this week.. in my personal study i read in mormon, in the book of mormon.. it was really just amazing how much we can get out of just one book in the book of mormon.. i was reading and just soaking in the information.. it was awesome.. in chapter 7 and 9 it just talks about everything .. i dont know how else to explain it.. you should just go and read it.. next thing this week i am back in lima for today anyway because my companion has some bad knees so he is going to get those checked out here in the next little bit and that is why i cant write a ton today.. but i am doing awesome.. my area is coming to life slowly and i love it.. and well last thing i want to say is, happy birthday to my papa smurf this week.. on the sixteenth.. man pops i hadnt thought about it until right now but i wont see you until your sixty.. hahaha.. how funny is that. i hope you have a good one and i am thinking there is a good chance you will work right through it.. but i hope you enjoy every minute and well enjoy preparing for lake powell... oh and last thing again.... this goes out to all of you.. Be safe and dont do things like stab your hand or throw buckets at peoples faces and lastly dont do anything to sink the boat.. that is all i ask.. haha love you all so much and hope you have a great time at the lake..
