Stayed in Ica

Helloooo.....
Haha well another one bites the dust hey... well another day of changes but the good news is that my companion and i are staying togethe..r the bad news is my good friend elder mckinley got changed to ayacucho, which is the area of the misson which is just really far away and up in the mountains.. everyone gets sick because the food is terrible.. but i am happy because i am loving ica and all that it has to offer in the food department.. for p day we get to go and eat burger king, which is great if you ask me. but anyway this week was pretty solid unfortunately my talking to people in the streets really took a down hill shot and i dont really know why.. we were able to put the rest of alex´s family with a baptismal date here on the tenth of march so that was pretty cool.. we were able to put another one of our investigators with a date for the 24th.. so we are really rolling along down here in my area. well after that not too much has happened.. we need to talk more in the streets to find the people the Lord is providing for us.. we were walking yesterday and the one person we spoke with told us that his mother in law had passed away in the morning and his wife was taking it pretty hard. so it was just to show us that the Lord is preparing people for us that we just havent been talkng to.. the whole running thing is super difficult and i learned that i still dont like it and it takes all the strength in the world to go and run..but ya things are going awesome down here in peru.. sorry if there are no cool stories this week but i have been reading a lot and living the dream down here and i cant ask for more. I love being out here and getting to know all of the new people and seeing how much one message can solve so many problems and difficulties. I know this gospel is true and that the message i get to share with everyone is the most special message that exists in this world.. i feel so blessed to have the time to learn and grow myself, and watch others plant the seed of learning and really putting forth the effort to grow. I love you all so much and thank you tons for your support and letters.. they are awesome to read.

Feb. 20

Hellooo Family

Wowser so another week down and to be honest it was one of the fastest weeks in my life and i dont even know why.. it is incredible to me that it is already over but hey i cant hold back time so i guess i am here and writing again. This week was full of some interesting things starting with us having 11 lessons this week!!! what up that is more than double last weeks total how cool is that?? So this week we put one more person with a baptismal date and well it is hno alex from last weeks letter, and he is rolling on just like an awesome person would, in other words like me, nate, and justin as we have claimed the awesome title. haha but it was pretty crazy this week because one day my companion had to go to lima so we pretty much lost a day of teaching on that and then we had a multi zone conferance which was really cool and we talked a lot about passion desire, and diligence. it was a really good conference and the spirit was crazy strong and really helped all of us put even more in what we are doing and giving it our all. And so today i was studying this morning in mosiah 13 that talks about the commandments and all that jazz but what really drew my attention was how abinadi declares his purpose and that nothing can stop him from telling them of their iniquity and it was just really coo. i can say that i want to be able to say that nothing can stop me from declaring my purpose to all the people. This is a very awesome place to be.. So i dont know if you remember or not but a while back we had a family we were teaching, the fam. hernandez apayco. they were going to get baptized but then they had problems and it didnt look good and they were moving. it went crazy so we stopped visiting them and well yesterday we were sitting in church and who comes walking in all dressed up... the whole family,,, it was nuts and then we went and talked to them and the dad said we arent doing our part. and it was just really cool so we are trying to help them again, but slowly. they arent moving but we need to help their sons get desires to learn so we are doing what we can there... but hey that was this week and i know that this next one we are going to teach even more awesome people... oh and this part for dad and korey... i went running today... turns out i still dont like it but my companion wants to lose weight so i was like lets run... and well we went and we are going again tomorrow... hahha

Happy Valentine 2012

Wow Family so there goes another week and well this week was interestingly awesome.. Let me tell you why,,, the day when my companion and I got robbed a while back, i can say the lord had a purpose in sending us to that part of our area. the funny thing is that it was to find someone that doesnt even live there. haha so that day when we were in that area (where the bishop said is the promised land, which is his choke that he always likes to say because the missionaries have never had success there) anyway my companion and i went over there and all we were doing that whole day was contacting a million people doors, people in the streets, and other crazy things that werent super effective. at the same time we were searching for the old investigators that existed in that area. we were looking for one of the directions and we had no idea where it could be. we were just walking along without any idea of where we were and we had passed like 6 nice people that i am sure we could have talked to but for some reason we didnt. all of a sudden there was a little 15 year old kid with his motorcycle and he was about to call someone from a public phone and i said, hey lets ask him where this dirrection is.. his name was alex and he told us where the direction was. we asked him for his address so we could visit him and he was like ya whatever... well fast forward to yesterday, we have been teaching alex and his mom now for a few weeks, but it is hilarious because almost every time we go to his house he has a new friend there that wants to listen.. from contacting him we have received 5 references and they are all just super awesome investigators. the one he brought yesterday was like ya i got in an accident a month or two ago and i decided i need to change my life. and well it was really cool.. I love this kid and his family and his friends and i thought about who he reminds me of and it was pretty funny cause while i was talking to him all of a sudden it came to me... he is peruvian nate!!! haha it was great! he is super like gangster type kid and his friends are worse looking, but they all have awesome desires.. it is crazy.. now even though we only have 12 investigators in our area 6 of them came to church thanks to this kid and his mom.. the other six couldnt come but they too want to progress.. so what ive learned is that our area, even though we arent loaded with people or lessons, the investigators that we have are the kind that i have always wanted in the mission.. we dont have 1 investigator that hasnt progressed at least a little bit.. i can tell you that from all of my other areas i have not had people like this.. it is incredible.. and i know with a complete surety that our area will progress into a very strong area if we keep following the spirit and talking to the people the lord wants us too. The mission really is incredible and there is no better place to learn, grow and help others do the same!

Hey Family....
So family this week was a little bit slow.. Not because anything bad happened, but this week we only had one lesson a day.. it was incredible even though we had a full day appointments each day.. we were only able to enter one house everyday.. it was crazy. not even lying monday through friday 1 lesson each day.. haha it is pretty funny but at the same time my companion says his legs hurt and he is tired of walking and well it is pretty understandable he just got here and we arent entering houses to sit down.. we are just walking around talking to everyone that we can.. but it was a pretty fun week at the same time because i let my companion do the contacts so that he could practice.. there were some pretty awesome contacts because it was just super direct like this is us and what we have to say.. so i got suggested for him to be a little more open and just talk to the people and enjoy it.. haha but this week we were unable to baptize the family hernandez apayco.. because the dad and one of the sons is in nazca and they dont understand the importance of coming back.. but we are trying to find the people the Lord has prepared for us and we do have some good investigators.. we are working hard and the lord will bless us if we keep putting in all of our effort!! hope you all have a great week and find some people that maybe you could help. And lastly tomorrow if i remember right it is Emmas Birthday!!!! Happy Birthday Emma.. hope you have a great day and an even better year!! oh and also it is my brothers birthday.. happy birthday jeff..... love you tons brother work hard..´

the Earth quaked when Lucyann was born!!!

Sorry if i write a little bit slower today,,,
I MIGHT BE SUFFERING FROM POST EARTHQUAKE SYNDROME!!!!
haha so this week was pretty awesome.. but at the same time it was kinda interesting because we were rocking our area and yet all of our investigators told us they were busy right now and we cant really listen for now... so that was kinda lame! so we spent almost all of our week contacting new people.. And well after that one of the days we were just walking and as we past one of these houses i was just like ya we are going back to knock that door.. so we went back and knocked the door and this mom comes out. she said if you had knocked my door a few months ago i wouldnt have paid any attention, but my 12 yr old daughter recently passed away and so i am listening to all i can. It was a super testimony for me because in the minute i got the most awesome feeling to knock her door and so it was just really cool! because it had the Lords' hand and such an awesome experience. after that we had the chance to teach her and her family a little bit it was really cool, and i love having those experiences.. Oh and last night we got woken up to an earthquake that pulled a 6.2 on the scale thingy. so that was pretty sweet i was basically thrown from the top bunk of my bed and my companion was asleep. so i was up throwing on some clothes and i was like compañion, and he got up and put his clothes on and then we left the apartment for 2 hours.. it was sweet.. i mean that was totally wicked... that was for you kelli... and now on the list of things.. Happy Birthday new niece.. lucyann!!!! woohooooo.. bienvenidos al mundo.. and well after that daniel you lucky dog you, you will be able to speak spanish with nate justin and i.. but your spanish will sound funny.. haha and lastly happy birthday this week sister melanie miller!! hope you all have a great day and a more awesome week.. What it is Family!! What an awesome week!!
So Family it's good to know when there is something funny that happens in a week everyone writes me.. Haha this week went really well for those that want to know first things first.. My companions name is Elder Hernandez and he is from Guatemala and he is pretty cool. We had a pretty good time this week helping him get to know the people and the area just working in the area normal. The training thing is cool we just read and do what the little training book says. my companion is just wanting to learn and listen to what to do. It was really cool in some of the lessons because i felt like they were a lot more spirit guided and i have been concentrating a lot on teaching the people and not lessons. It was really fun because we went and found a new family to teach and we did something very different in our how to begin teaching.. we just kinda threw a whole bunch of the messages we had on the table and they were like stunned with the information we have. they had a whole bunch of super awesome questions. but we told them things like that is what we want to teach you but we cant teach it all in one lesson. so that was super awesome and it seemed to work very well. Also this week we were going to have a baptism for a family of 3 but we didn't feel like they were ready. so this week we are going to be concentrating on them so that they can feel prepared and take this step in their life. They are the Family Hernandez Apayco. they are really cool we are working with the whole family but the dad is normally working so we haven't been able to teach him much. the whole family has come to church 2 weeks straight. Also we are teaching another family, the family morales, they are really good and super poor so they are listening but dont understand it all, but have desires to be baptized. so all that is going well but my companion and I are really focusing on finding more new people to teach.
About the mugging... well it was just weird because they came out of nowhere. they just hit my companion in the back of the head, and then told us to get on the ground and well that was pretty crazy.. but the good news here is that they stole the three soles that I had and they didn’t steal the 13 or so soles my companion had, took my debit card, and then they stole stuff and searched my companions backpack and unfortunately stole his bible and hymnal. they didn’t search my backpack which I didn’t know at the time but it had my camera. So really we got off alright and well it was just a weird one-time thing from what I have experienced. I forgot to mention that this mugging took place in the middle of the main street in our area with a whole bunch of cars just driving past watching.. it was pretty hilarious because afterward a bunch of cars came up to us to ask if we were alright and said we wanted to help but they had a gun...
So well that was my week and it was really fun.. It threw a cool story into my mission and just so you know after i knew we were ok and my companion wasn't too hurt, i did start laughing and saying how ridiculous they must feel.. Anyway i hope you all know that i am fine and my companion is also no harm done. Well love you all tons and i know you and i will have awesome weeks..

In Lima for new comp!

What up homefront!!
So family this week was super awesome. my companion and i were in our area in ica and we were knocking on doors and talking to all of the people in the world and we were able to find some super awesome investigators that really just came out of the wood work.. and so we were walking one day and we saw a lady carrying her dog and her daughter was carrying an iv that was in the dogs paw and as we were walking past them i was like ya i want to talk to them just because it isnt every day that you see a dog with and iv.. so as i was talking to them we asked if they had talked to missionaries or seen missionaries before and the mom was like ya i talked to the missionaries a long time ago and i almost got baptized but my mom wouldnt let me at the time... so then she was like but i would really like if you could come and visit us so that i can know more and understand more of the plan of god.. so that was pretty awesome and it was one of my testimonies that the Lord really prepares people for us in any situation it just depends if we are able to recognize that it is some one that the lord has prepared. also this week we were able to talk a little bit with the bishop about making the ward work a little bit harder and a little bit more with us.. and then we ended up having 6 lessons with members and 5 others which was more lessons than in any of the other weeks. and then on saturday night we received our changes and my companion elder tani went to lima to be companions with his cousin who is finishing the mission here in two changes.. and then i found out my new companion doesnt exist yet.. so that is kinda cool i am here in lima and tomorrow we have training to train and then tomorrow night i believe i will be heading back down to ica.. but today i got here in my temporary area for the day and who else is here... Elder church!!! hahaha so i have been talking to him for a little while.. i havent seen him since who knows when so today has been a pretty solid day.. and well that was my week and we have really experienced so many blessings in my little humble area of fonavi because we now have 7 people with baptismal dates and 3 of them are for this week and we are really hoping that they feel ready so it will be super awesome. and well i love this work and finding all the new people that are obviously prepared for the message that we have. A big shout out to bu, happy birthday brother!
