Happy Halloween and Hump Day

Alrighty then family!!!
Well this week was pretty solid. We had the normal number of lessons but we didn't really find very many new people this week. That was a little bit of a bummer. But my companion and I are really doing a lot better. I mean we aren't perfect but I think we are able to get over the little things that happen. To be honest I don't understand why little things get between us so much. Haha I have never thought I was very hard to get along with. I dont have very many problems with the way people are. But I have learned that one thing gets on my nerves now more that anything else in the world.. haha It just so happens that the one thing is something that ALL of my family has gotten mad at me for more than once.. that is when somebody pees on the seat.. there is nothing worse than sitting down to do your business and sitting and being wet with ya.....
This week I was reading 1 nephi 20 which helped me with a whole bunch of different things. I hope that you will all try to read that because it is a really cool chapter. I am loving the Book of Mormon these days. I have really learned how to study and really search the scriptures. I can tell you that I think that is where my personal testimony has changed and grown the most.
Next I would just like to thank you all for writing me this week with a lot of the same things. haha which was pretty funny because all of you were so kind in mentioning this week is hump day.. haha has it really been one year since I left home?? "But that's impossible"... haha I think my favorite part is that I have been gone a year and mom is sending me pictures of the house and yard. Absolutely nothing has changed outside since I left.... Why?? I don't want to hear about the backyard and weeding that junk when I get home.. oh and to answer your question Kelli... yes I plan on burning me a shirt.. haha so that I have something to mark my time and remember, not because of other reasons...
So I think that is about all I got for this week. I am so happy to be out here in Peru and it is pretty crazy to believe how long it has been. I can go back and read what I wrote one year ago in my journal and it is pretty entertaining. I know this is the work of the Lord and I love every minute of this work. Thank you all for supporting me in this time of my mission.

Quenton is in let the fun begin....
Haha well family this week was pretty awesome not gonna lie. We were able to make our companionship better and we were talking more together and we are happier these days. I really dont think anything has changed it is just accept the other person for who he is. And hopefully we can keep this rolling because this week was changes and my companion and I will continue together for at least another 6 weeks. But this week we were able to complete the baptism that we had planned. The hna. Avila got baptized in the nice cold water and then she came out and bore her awesome testimony. Also this week we were searching for really old investigators and found one. she told us that she listened to the missionaries with another lady that lives 3 houses down the road. so we went to that house and in the house we found two new teenagers that now have baptismal dates for the end of november. It was awesome!! We had 17 lessons with members and then we also found 10 new investigators. so in the past two weeks we have found 22 new investigators. Our area is rolling and changing really fast. When i got here it was nothing. we were lucky to get up to 10 lessons with members and we only had 4 or 5 new people in a normal week. I will say that we are really thinking of how we can make this area work and really grow to its potential.
So in the changes for this week unfortunately was the end of my time with Elder Mckinley, he got changed down to ica. so he is in the one place in the whole country that i know of that has diet coke.. i think he will send me some in one of these coming weeks. Haha also i can happily say that we found a little kid that could very well be one of the smartest most interesting 10 year olds that i have ever met. he is ready to be baptized and we found him this week.. he came to the baptism alone and then to church alone and well he is set for the 19th of november. but it could very easily move to a closer date. haha we are really loving this area.. And the ward is getting more and more animated to help and work. also this week i can yet again say i got to talk in sacrament meeting.. For those that are counting this is the third time in this area. i am pretty sure that means i have talked more here then in the home ward. i started my talk and then after i started i actually changed my whole topic and went and read the parable of the seeds... I dont know what that is called in english but i went and read parts of that and explained them. then i related it to the atonement and it was actually really cool because that had absolutely nothing to do with my original topic. but everyone came and said they really liked my talk so that was cool.. I love this mission and my area and i am getting to love my companion. just needed a little more time to get used to him i guess.. I love working hard now in the mission. it is just really satisfying when you can get back from a nice days work finding new people, inviting them to be baptized, and then do it again the next day.. I love this work and I am just really happy to be here and know that all is rolling on at home normal as usual.. I love you all so much and hope you have yet another good week..

HOWDY HOE
Well there goes another week family. This week we had our interviews with President Manning for the first time in 4 months. It was pretty fun. We got to talk about how the mission has changed my way of thinking and he says I have changed but i dont know if i have really changed all that much. But I am happy that my companion and I are having a lot of success here in this area of pueblo nuevo.. This week we found 12 new investigators that could very easily progress. I think my companion and I are finally progressing and not fighting as much anymore. This week we only had 13 lessons with members but it was strange how we only had these 13 lessons and were able to have almost equal in new people. That means that we found some families and not just one person to teach. I think this area has a ton of potential and all we have to do is open our mouths and talk to alll of the people that the Lord puts in our path. I dont know how but i feel like I am so much more open to talk to the people. I dont need a reason to start talking to someone anymore i can just tell them why i am there and if they want to listen they can and if they dont it is their loss. Now I dont know if that is the way I should look at this but for me it helps because a lot of people are scared to talk to random new people because they could get just straight up rejected. But the good news is playing bball with nate i am used to that.....hahaha funny joke..nate cant reject me.. haha other joke.. But really I care for the people and if they accept I can show that more but if they reject me I dont take it personally.. That is something I learned a long time ago to not take things personally. We have one message and if they dont like to hear the truth they dont have to listen that is the point of this life. I love the mission and I wouldnt want to be anywhere else I cant believe how fast time flies and how much I have learned... I love all of my family and the examples you have all been to me and also all of my friends that are putting there strength in the same work as me.. I love you all so much have an awesome week..

10-10-2011

Alrighty then Family!!
So this week was a really long week.... but to make my really long week short. My companion and I are finally making progress. I think i said that a couple of weeks ago so again we will find out in the very near future if things really are getting better. I feel like it is always just one big fight, then we have a few days of peace, and then it is back to the fight. Now i know this wont sound believable to some of you, but most of the time i dont even know what we are fighting about!! All i am doing is arguing that i am trying to do my best as a companion. It is really confusing sometimes, not going to lie. I do have one bit of good news that i have found that has helped our companionship get better. It is one of those games you sent me mom in the very beginning of the mission... it is the basketball game... we just play ten games of that before we go to bed. You know me, i like to talk to my fake players when playing good and bad.. so my companion gets a kick out of that. I like playing the game so all is well at that point in time. haha In other news this week, i was reading more of 1 Nephi and i have been relating the scriptures to different kinds of things. It was really weird when i was reading a scripture and it really had nothing to do with missionary work, and all of a sudden i was thinking of how that scripture could relate to anything and everything.. haha it would be a lot cooler if i had written down the scripture to write on here but hey i'm not perfect.... all i am going to say is if you read the scriptures one night to try and help you in a certain situation, don't just read the words but really try and think about what the Lord is trying to tell you in between the lines. Because i know that i have had those opportunities before the mission and i dont think i understood what he was trying to tell me. So what i am offering is that you can really read and think of how those verses could relate to your situation and all of a sudden you won't be able to stop. You will just keep on keepin on loving what you read..
On another note this week we had an awesome baptism for the hna isabel mendoza. Her brother who has been a member for some 30 years baptized her and it was just really cool because one day we found her, and then one month later she got baptized. Also this week were able to talk with another hna that was coming to church. We didn't know she lived inside the ward boundaries, anyway turns out she just has a story.. i think i told you about avila but if not... she is an hna she has a little four year old and then also a little 6 month old baby... well this baby she has was with a member return missionary that has 3 kids with his wife and they are sealed in the temple... and he confessed his sin and he didnt get excommunicated, but he has goals to fix his marriage. Then this hna came to church and she wants to be baptized. She has real desires and she tells us that he had told her that his divorce was a sure thing.. So there was all of this stuff and interviews and she told us she doesn't want to be baptized for him but for her faith in Christ. She told the stake president the intentions of the guy and so we are waiting to see what happens there.. haha But she is ready to be baptized in two weeks..
well family i hope all is well and that all of you are in super health these days. i know this church is true and i am so happy to be here in the Lords work.. i hope you have an awesome week and i will do what i can to make mine just as awesome!!

Conference!

Alrighty then!!!! Well i Loved Conference thank you for asking....
Haha i loved it for real their is nothing i can say more. I did get to watch all of it in spanish and I was taking all the notes that i could. it turns out that i ended up taking ten pages of awesome notes, and guess what it was the exact same amount as the conference in english so i dont feel like i missed things with the whole language thing!!! how cool is that?? i know.. Anyway this week me and my companion continued with our ups and our downs, but i think finally we might be progressing a little bit.. i came really close to writing progressing forward.. haha weird.. but this week was awesome we were walking and we saw this lady and both of us thought we should talk to her.. so we talked to her and told her to come to conference with us and she did.. Then Sunday, after she came to conference alone, we had a lesson with her and asked if she wanted to be baptized and guess what... ya she is set to be baptized for the 22nd.. of this month.. haha that is in 3 weeks.. She is super awesome her name is avila and she is right around 30 with 2 kids.. She is probably one of the coolest investigators or easiest investigators i have had yet in the mission. Also yesterday i was with a youth and i had the same feeling about a little couple that was just chillin outside. so we went and talked to them and they could be super cool...i will let you know next week about them. This week i have been talking to even more people in the streets.. now i know it isnt the most efficient but i feel like a much better missionary when i am doing it.. So in the conference i loved how Elder Holland told us satan is real and he has power.. All of us not only missionaries or soon to be missionaries need to know that. We need to build our testimonies so that we can fight the power that he has. i was thinking about how he was saying the things and what i thought about was that we will always have trials but if we can strengthen ourselves and overcome those trials we will only be building our patience. i am relating that to elder hales` talk. so all the talks in conference go hand in hand. I Love this gospel and i love listening to the prophets of our days because they just tell us how to be more awesome.. and now i am being more direct with people telling them all the truth and if they want it it is there own choice. i am just the messenger and i am proud to be so. but in this case not prideful proud but like ammon in the book of mormon.. awesome i know this is a work i am starting to get my grasp on how to be the best i can be.. love you all so much. Paz fuera!!

A lesson learned

WELL ANOTHER WEEK DOWN......
Well i think this was one of the slowest weeks of my mission up to this point, let me inform you why.. Well i want to start off saying i love my companion..... when he isnt mad for no reason. but this week he was mad almost the whole week and i really just dont know why, and he didnt want to talk to me much at all. i have learned that when there is nobody to talk to things are really slow down. But on the bright note this week was really cool, in many other ways. To start off we had youth that wanted to come with us each day so that helped with my companion and i because together we just werent working well together. So the youth in this ward are super cool they remind me of our ward back at home with all of us super awesome people. This week was even cooler because we had the chance to hear from one of the new seventy for our area.. elder weddel. his whole message to us is there is always one more person that we need to go out and find. if we find that one then there is another one. So I really learned a lot about patience and diligence this week. i would recommend first reading Alma 32..28-45 because those verses really got me thinking about how when we are starting to practice something new, it is just having the faith to put the seed in the ground. what we need to do is make the seed grow and that includes the difficult times. so ya this week was tough but we had a lot more lessons and i learned lessons myself that i know will have a major affect in my life. I am so grateful for this time i have to grow and make myself stronger as a person. I love hearing all of the testimonies and prayers of our investigators because i can feel them growning ( I think he meant growing) with every visit. we are still working on putting more people with baptismal dates. but i love this area and my companion. we are doing better now which i am sure you will be happy to hear. i know i am because i know we are so much more effective when we really put our heart in the work.. like it says in D and C 64 the lord requires our heart. and that means all of our time needs to be dedicated to him, helping find his children, and teach the gospel that we have in our lives.. i love it...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KOREY!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was going to wish you Happy Birthday last week but it just seemed like a really long wait for your birthday which was yesterday!! So from what i hear it was pretty sweet, you got to eat some pretty awesome food.
But from there i too got a pretty cool present for your birthday. it turns out that peru had a peru conference, they tried to say it was stake conference, but it was really just general conference short version for Peru.. you know why because it was a member of the 70, it was julie b beck, it was d todd cristofferson, and lastly it was you guessed it President Thomas S. Monson.. It was awesome all of Peru had the same conferance where the prophet and apostle and others were basically telling peruvians to work harder in missionary work, and then telling them that coming to the church one time a month is not being a member... haha it was awesome because it was so direct for all of them to start trying in missionary work to bring the less actives back to the church.. it was legit, not gonna lie. i took 2 pages of notes at a stake conference and i can honestly say that was a first in my life. So after this conference we had 3 youth want to come with us. so my companion and I split up and had a few more lessons than we were going to have. It really was a cool session and great prep for general conference that is coming yet again so we can learn even more!! I am so pumped to get to listen to the prophets again in two weeks, gosh i love my mission and my new country... haha
Next on the week we had the chance to find 4 new investigators. we have the hermana isabel who is 100 percent ready for her baptism, which means i am pumped because we haven't had a baptism here in this area yet. after her we have the other girl yasmin but she is never home when we go to pick her up to come to church, but this week we had a really good lesson with her to resolve her doubts and so we feel really good about her. at the same time we aren't sure if she wants to come to church so that is kinda sad. this week i was studying in the new testament and for the first time in my life i have made it to matthew 10, now i just want to say that is sad on my part, but it is really awesome because i have used those chapters in my lessons tons this week i would now recommend studying the new testament because that is what Elder Neil A Anderson told us that we should do. i can now testify that it is true because it really helps build your testimony of our savior, Jesus Christ. I feel so good just going out this week and i actually contacted them with, hi I am elder farr and i am from the one true church in the world and i am here to share the truth with you.. it was awesome and yes we actually got into two houses with that. Me and my companion are doing well and i love this gospel and i am learning so much reading new things, that i never would have thought of reading before this week. I hope that you can all help in the missionary work whether it be bring someone back to church who is a little less active, or heck talk to some random person and tell them a little about the gospel and they could easily accept cause it is true.. I love all you so much and hope you have an awesome week. your favorite elder
